my last youtube of the day

Keith Olbermann on April 25, 2007
I saw this on TV. I respect this man so much. My sister talked awhile back about the fact the she was a long time Republican and recently changed parties. I have done the same thing. I would not be able to respect myself if I remained a member of that party. Democrats are not perfect, I know this. At least Democrats know right from wrong. It's that simple. Truly. So, when I saw Keith Olbermann the other night, I felt the anger. I am not a New Yorker and don't have the personal attachment to Guilani, but I understand what is going on. I do not blindly support the president. He may be the leader of our country, but that does not make him right. I also refuse to succumb to the fear that republicans spew. If you have 8 minutes, please listen to this.

Suns lead series 3-1. Wednesday's game could end it. As much as I love watching, I really want the playoffs the be over. Be over and have the freaking trophy!!! The anticipation is killing me!
Mavs are down 3-1 to my new favorite spoilers, Golden State. One more and Dallas is gone baby! Gone like Miami. I am loving this!
Hey, this is funny...
Looks like he's flipping Kobe off. I would do it! But not Steve Nash, he was just giving the peace sign. Here it is again, from another angle...
Ok, maybe not the peace sign, but he wasn't being rude either. Love it. Love it!

I love this game!

i can't live without your love & affection

Seriously.
Yes. I bought this.
The Best of... is from two albums. Sad. Ok. Here's the deal. I loved Nelson. Loved. As far back as I can remember, I seem to focus my obsession on one (or in this case two) people. Currently, its the hotness. But back in 1990, it was Nelson. I had the poster, the album. I even dragged my father to a concert. Loved Nelson. They didn't last long, so I moved on. I did buy the 2nd album, seven years later, out of pity. I am not a fair weather fan. I have both albums on cassette, but never got the cd's. So when I happened upon this (and don't even ask me how I managed to do that!), I bought it. I listened to it yesterday afternoon and most of this morning. I still know all the words. I guess that would explain why this the song in my head 04/27/07:

After The Rain by Nelson

How crazy is that video? The actual song does not start until the 1:30 mark. So weird. And what I find even weirder is that I found it on youtube. What can't you find on youtube? Love that shit!

bad start

Today got off to a shitty start. I had a whole day planned and now it's shot to hell. I woke up with a migraine. A bad one. This may be TMI, but whatever... Many times when I have a bad migraine, a get sick. Like vomit sick. And I knew that this morning would be that way. I didn't bother taking anything for the headache. I just waited about 20 minutes until I did get sick. As much as I hate throwing up, I always start to feel better after I do it. I could have spent the whole day fighting off the urge, or I could do what I did today and just let it happen. After I got sick, I finally took something for the migraine and managed to slowly eat some breakfast. Besides the obvious reasons why that would make today suck, I had a dentist appointment this morning. Our dentist is in another city, so going is a little involved. See, I don't drive my car very far from home. The furthest I usually drive is about 10 miles from home. My car is not the most reliable and I never take it on the freeway. The dentist is by our old apartment about 30 minutes from my house and I have to take the freeway to get there. So, on days when I go to that part of the world, Chris takes my car to work and I get the truck. Chris does not like driving my car, because its little. I get that. Anyway, Chris took my car to work this morning and I have the truck. I only get the truck on days when I need to go long distances. I am repeating myself. Sorry. So after I got sick, I knew there was no way I could make it to the dentist. I called and canceled. I cannot drive with a migraine. And there was no way I could have showered and been ready to go on time anyway. They are very cool about it. The receptionist could tell I was sick just from my voice. So, that is shot. I was also going to go shopping on that side of town too. There is a store I need to go to that is only there, so that was the rest of what I was gonna do today. I am starting the feel better, but I am not sure if I will be up to going shopping. Maybe. We'll see.
And if having a headache and getting sick weren't enough... The freaking digital cable went out! I was laying down on the couch, watching last nights Top Model and the freaking box went out. I got really pissed and concerned. The last time that happened we had to get a new box and lost all our DVR recorded stuff. I called Chris at work and he told me that other wives had called their spouses in his office and said their cable was out too. I tried to call the cable company and their lines are busy. All this leads me to believe that it's not just my box. Thank goodness. But still. It sucks. At least the regular cable is not out. I have 2 other TV's hooked up to cable, but not digital. So that's how I know it's the digital that is out. What is with shit going out around here? Last weekend it was the power and now the cable! What the hell!! I am used to the warnings over the summer of power concerns due to the heat, but it's not all that hot yet. So what is their excuse this time? Augh. I am gonna go get in the shower and see how I feel. If the cable is out all day, I might as well try to go shopping.

last night was lovely!

Yesterday pretty much sucked. But it ended quite well. The good thing...
Other than Steve Nash kissing his right bicep after a hard foul by Odom, this was my favorite moment:Seriously! Don't want to challenge Amare at a game of leap frog. Since it was a major blow out, the boys got good rest. And had fun too. I love this:
I love that they are smiling and laughing. The Suns are not only a great team, but a really great group of guys. Love them.
Wanna know what I said during the whole game last night (and since it worked, I will be saying it over and over for the next 2 games [or more, if needed])?
That's not gonna make my momma happy, because she hates it when I use the f-word. But it's true. I hate him.
2 and 0 yeah!!

Babysitters Club

Thanks to Pop Candy, I found a blog that is cracking me up. There is a girl, who is close to my age, who is re-reading The Babysitters Club books and blogging about it. Here's the blog: BSC Headquarters. I loved those books and read them religiously. I owned almost very book and the ones that I didn't own, I checked out from the library. A great perk of my childhood was that my mom worked at the library. Well, she still does, but I don't really get the same benefits now as I used to. Anyway, this blog is hilarious and brings back all sorts of memories. Maybe I can find one about Sweet Valley High!

song in my head 04/23/07

Beautiful Liar by Beyonce feat. Shakira

Let me explain about these songs in my head posts. Just because the song is in my head, does not mean I necessarily like it. Today is that case. Most of the time I like the song, but sometimes dumb songs stick in my head. I just think it's fun to share what song I have in my head. Because, as I have mentioned before, I usually have a song in my head at all times and it's usually the same song all day. Anyway... maybe it makes more sense now.

congrats LB!

OMG - we're totalled blacked out!

The title is what Chris said I should post on my blog about today. I guess it's another had to be there moment. Anyway.
Happy Earth Day! We did our share today by going 5 hours without electricity. Sounds smart, but crazy. I guess this is the point where I explain we did not go without electricity by choice. At 10:30am, the power went out. At 3:40pm, the power came back on. I called the power company after it was off for about 30 minutes. They said some lines were down in our area and it would be a long time before they were back. Lovely. Thank goodness it was not hot today. Abd nothing got spoiled in the refrigerator or freezer. So it really was not a huge deal, except... Game 1 of the playoffs was at noon!!!!! I missed the entire game on television. We did have a battery operated radio, so I was able to listen to it, but its not the same. I was really mad, as you can imagine. Despite me missing the game, they won. Barely, but they did. Also good is that San Antonio lost and Golden State is trying to beat Dallas as we speak. All good for the Suns.

edited to add: GO GOLDEN STATE!! Dallas lost last night. I could not be happier!

playoffs

First round schedule:

Sunday: Lakers at Suns, noon (ABC) - WIN!!
Tuesday: Lakers at Suns, 7:30 p.m. (TNT)
April 26: Suns at Lakers, 7:30 p.m. (TNT)

May 6: Lakers at Suns, TBD*

We can beat the Lakers!
And can I tell you how happy I am that Dallas has to play Golden State in the first round. Dallas has not beaten Golden State all season, including the loss on Tuesday. If Dallas looses in the first round, the Suns have a shot at the title!

Here come the playoffs people!!!!! Get ready.

nobody likes to lose

Last night, the Suns lost. It really did not matter, because they have already secured their playoff position. It would have been nice for them to win while I was there, but it was still fun. Our seats were way up there, but still really good. It was fan appreciation day and Chris won the best prize! He won an autographed Boris Diaw hat. I pretty much have taken it as my own. It sucks that the person who cares the least about the Suns, won the best prize. Oh well. You can see my pictures here, but here are a few of my favorites (other than the ones I posted on my 365):

tonight

Even though I am still freaking sick, we are going to the Suns game!! Nothing could keep me from going. Going to this game tonight was our gift to my dad for his 60th birthday. Chris, my mom, my dad and I are all going. Everyone is meeting at my house, since they are all coming from work in different parts of town. I wish I was feeling better. I hope that my headache dies down or goes away before the game. And just in case you were wondering, I did take some sinus headache medicine. Tonight's game is the last game of the regular season and it is fan appreciation night. Maybe one of us will win fun prizes. That would be cool. It is going to be fun. And hopefully I will get some cool pictures. Our seats are way up in the nose bleed section, so they will probably be blurry or the players will look like ants. I will do my best, though.

funny thing with my new phone

I am loving the bluetooth, by the way. I thought I would hate having that thing in my ear, but it really doesn't bother me. And no, I am not one of the fools who walk around with it in my ear when I am not on the phone.
The funny thing is about my ringtone. As I mentioned before, Grillz by Nelly is my ringtone. Chris has this thing that every time my phone rings, he yells, "phone's ringing." It can be very effective if I am in another part of the house. Other times, it is just annoying. Especially when I am sitting right next to him on the couch. Well, on Sunday I was in the living room watching the Suns game with my parents (they came over for Easter) and Chris was in the kitchen. Chris yells, "phone's ringing," and well... it wasn't. It was a car driving down the street with its stereo really loud. It was not the same song as my ringtone, but it was not far off either. It was freaking hilarious. I am so hip that my ringtone is the same as the music that people blast from their cars!
Maybe it was one of the those had to be there moments...

almost 6 months!

proud of my momma

This weekend, my mom is going to participate in Relay For Life of Glendale to celebrate cancer survivors and raise money to help the American Cancer Society. She is on a team with her co-workers. She is walking as A SURVIVOR. Not only that, but she is walking for her sister and one of her former co-workers. I am proud that my mother is doing this. If you want to donate to her team, you can do so here.

Speaking of my aunt, she had her surgery and she is doing great. She was released for the hospital 2 days before they had said she would be. The doctors are very optimistic. It's great news!

where have I been?

Well, if you saw my 365 blog you might have figured out that I am sick. I have been sick since Monday. On Sunday, my throat was hurting and I knew a cold was coming. I didn't sleep real well that night and when I woke up on Monday, I was very ill. All congested, coughing, etc. I stayed home from work Monday and Tuesday. I went in yesterday, but didn't make it all day. See, I have one of those jobs where I talk all day long. I am attached to the phone. And there is no alternative for me to do when I can't talk. So anytime an illness effects my throat, I can't really work. I tried yesterday, but every time I talk, I cough. I thought I was feeling better yesterday. At least I was functioning. But last night was rough. Chris and I both tossed and turned all night. He didn't sleep well and neither did I. I really think that getting a good night sleep determines how I feel the next day. Gee, that is a brilliant discovery. Duh. Of course it does. But especially when I am sick. What I am getting at is that I feel crappy again today. I figured I needed to blog today, because things I want to talk about are getting backed up. So here I go... Expect multiple random posts today.

new phone

I went today and got a new phone. It's a Motorola V195. It's not fancy. I didn't need a camera or anything. I got a good deal. The phone is free after a rebate and I got a free car charger. The also gave me 25% off the bluetooth ear piece. It's charging still so I haven't gotten to play with it yet. I am happy with the phone, but there are a couple of complaints. I can't get it to display the date. I have the time in 2 places, but that's it. Strange. I am gonna work on that. See if I can find out how to change that. Another thing is that I lost all the cool wallpapers and ringtones I had downloaded. I had the coolest ones. And I went to download (and pay for them) again, but most of the ones I had are not available for my new phone. BOO. I found a couple, but there are not many cool ones. I got a Hello Kitty easter one, but that is only good for the rest of the week. At least that had my favorite ring tone for this phone, Clarity by John Mayer. I downloaded it, so I am hooked up. However, I did decide that I would venture out and have some fun with the new phone. Here is my new ring tone (it's the chorus... "Smile for me daddy..."):That song cracks my shit up!

i know someone who is very, very happy about this

Disney opens Fairy Tale Weddings to gay couples
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - The Walt Disney Co. has changed its policy to allow same-sex couples to participate in a popular Fairy Tale Wedding program it runs mainly at its two U.S. resorts and cruise line, a Disney spokesman said on Thursday.

Disney previously had allowed gay couples to organize their own weddings or commitment ceremonies at rented meeting rooms at the resorts, but had barred them from purchasing its Fairy Tale Wedding package and holding the event at locations at Disneyland and Walt Disney World that are set aside specifically for weddings.

"We are updating our Fairy Tale Wedding guidelines to include commitment ceremonies," Disney Parks and Resorts spokesman Donn Walker said. "This is consistent with our policy of creating a welcoming, respectful and inclusive environment for all of our guests."

This American Life

I listen to this all the time on NPR. NPR is the only radio station I listen to, in fact. Well, I am sure you know that they made This American Life into a TV show. It's on Showtime. I don't get Showtime, so I am very bummed about this. However, I saw Ira Glass (the host of the show) on Charlie Rose today and remembered that I heard the first episode of the show was online. I just finished watching it. It is just as great as the radio show. The episode has 2 stories. The first one is insane and the second one I had actually heard on the radio. I highly recommend that you watch it here. You will not be disappointed. I am however, disappointed because I still don't have Showtime. I guess I will have to wait for someone to post the episodes on youtube. And one other little side comment... it's weird to see the face of the voice that you are so used to hearing only on the radio. I have a little crush on Ira Glass.

answer: cuz I'm lazy

question: Why do I have 7 cups, all in various levels of full/empty, on my desk?

I am just sitting here watching Idol and wondering why I have these all over. One is Burger King, one is Jack in the Box and 5 others are my own. I should probably clean these up soon.

i need this!!

I have the worst luck with hands free on my phone. Somehow I manage to kill them all in a short period of time. I am going to probably get a new phone this weekend that has bluetooth. I am not a fan of those ear things, but since I kill every other one, I have no other option. But this is way cool!

um. words. escape. me.

swifty mcswifter strikes again

I have mentioned in the past that I am accident prone. Today was no different. With my right hand still recovering from my fall while camping, I cut my left middle finger. With this knife. No joke. That is one hell of a knife. It is a professional grade knife that my parents bought Chris from a restaurant supply store, two Christmases ago. My mom told me tonight that I am never allowed to use that knife again. It is for professionals and I am clearly not one. See, I was trying to put dinner together. I will not go as far to say that I made dinner. What I did consisted of cutting up (hence the knife) a pork chop that was already grilled, microwaving some pad thai noodles and putting it together. See, not so much cooking. But the mere fact that I was putting it together is a shocker, because I never cook. I microwave once in awhile, but that's it. Now I know why I do not cook. Knives are bad.
So, I sliced thru my nail and a small part of my finger. It didn't hurt at first, because the knife is so sharp. I felt it, saw the blood and started screaming. Chris is used to me injuring myself, so he just takes care of it. Peroxide to clean it, Bandaids, neosporin, etc. It is still really throbbing and this all happened about 3.5 hours ago. I did take a shower and washing my hair was quite difficult. And typing this now, for that matter, is tough. I can't really apply pressure to the finger tip or it hurts. I am hunting and pecking my way thru. Anyway, I tried to take a picture, but it didn't come out that great. My camera does not like close ups like that. But you can kinda see the cut in my nail...

finales tonight

Prison Break ended! boo hiss. I hate it's over for the season. If you didn't watch it and/or do not want to know how it ended, stop here.
It ended with Michael BACK IN PRISON!!! What the holy hell? Lincoln is free and the conspiracy is all but over, thanks to our Kellerman. I knew he was gonna die. For the obvious reasons of the show, plus the actor is going to be on the Grey's spin off.

I am also watching, as we speak, the finale of I Love New York. I wish she would pick Tango, but I think she will pick Chance. She's dumb like that.

And not only are shows ending now, but shows are coming back. Entourage this Sunday! That's what I am most excited about.

I gotta finish watching this shit so I can go to bed.

edited to add: She picked Tango! And he asked her to marry him. She said yes. What the hell!?!?

Fugs 'n' Jugs continue their tour of love

Perez Hilton thinks he's funny. But this time, I agree with his silly caption. The more this goes on (and it is still slowly killing me), it seems she is way more into him than he is into her. Pathetic. He is entertained by her, but it will get old soon... It has to...

not so funny April Fools joke

Jess and John Secretly Marry In Hawaii!!!!

Besides not being amused, I knew it wasn't possible. Those fools are in Australia. April Fools jokes suck. Except my sister came across some funny Google ones. Anyone fall for any jokes today?

they beat the Mavs again!

Congrats to the Suns on not just beating Dallas today, but blowing them away 126-104. It was a great game, but I have to admit that it was not nearly as exciting as the last time they played. There are 9 more games left in the regular season (and 1 of those, I will be going to!), then playoffs! If you think I freak out during the regular season... just wait for the playoffs.

we went camping

On Friday afternoon, we left town, went up north and went camping. It was, technically, my 2nd time camping. We went in September of last year and it was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. So I, being the brilliant person I am, decided we should go again while it was still cold up north. I should have taken the hint when I went looking for campsites and most are closed until May. But I searched and found a place that is open year round. It was the Yavapai campsite, near Granite Basin Lake, outside Prescott. When we camp, we use a tent and an air mattress. I thought I would bring lots of layers and lots of blankets and we would be fine. We even checked the weather and saw that it was going to get to around freezing at night, but I still thought that we would be ok. Can you guess where this is leading? Yup - too f-ing cold. When we got there, it was nice. We set up camp and had a nice night. It got chilly, but we just put in jackets and sat around the fire. We roasted marshmallows and had a great dinner. When it was time to go to bed, we got all tucked in and tried to sleep. It wasn't working. It was so cold. We tried to sleep for about an hour and then made the only decision we could make. We slept in the truck. We grabbed all our blankets and tried our best to get comfortable. We put the seats back as much as we could recline them. At least we were able to sleep without freezing to death. By the time I fell asleep, I was covered in 3 blankets. I was wearing flannel pants, a t-shirt, a fleece pullover, my corduroy jacket, my scarf, my hat and my gloves. Maybe I am a wuss, but I was really cold to be outside and trying to sleep. I think I managed to sleep for like 4 or 5 hours in total. I was really stiff, but at least we slept. We had planned to stay for two nights, but yesterday morning we decided not to stay another night. We had a relaxing day yesterday. Well, if you don't count our attempt to walk around the lake. We drove from the campsite to the lake, because it was about 4 miles away. When we got to the lake, we decided that walk around it, not realizing that you can't get all the way around. We discovered this about 2/3 of the way around. And after I had fallen and scraped my hand and wrist on a rock. It was nothing, but still slightly painful. So, we turned around and walked back around the way we came. I am really out of shape, but Chris is all about hiking and being in the outdoors. He is a freaking Eagle Scout. So, I did the little hike for him. I don't know why he wanted to do it, because earlier he had stepped wrong and twisted his ankle. It is swollen, but not too bad. He said walking on it loosened it up. Whatever. So we stayed last night until after dinner. I didn't want to miss out on the good food that Chris had planned to make. He is such a good camper. He knows what we need to have and gets stuff done. He did make me gather firewood and help set up and tear down the tent, but otherwise he took care of everything. I am way lucky to have him. He takes care of me. We had a good time and it was an experience, that's for sure. It was nice to be away and be away from the heat. Even though it was so cold at night, the rest of the day was gorgeous. When we left camp last night at 7:30pm, it was 57 degrees. When we got home at 9:30pm, it was 74 degrees. See why we wanted to get out of town?
