In The Land of Women

For some reason, I want to see this movie. Maybe it's my crush on Adam Brody. Must be, because it sure ain't to see Meg Ryan's funked up face.

Hello Kitty Hell

I just found this site: Hello Kitty Hell. It's this guy who lives in Japan and his wife buys Hello Kitty stuff, just like me. I believe I would be just as bad as his wife, if I lived in Japan. Oh my god. That would be the coolest. I only have a few things that I posts, but I want them all!
If you wanna see my stuff, you can check it out here. I haven't updated it lately. I need to do that soon.

American Idol

I haven't been watching it this season. Just off and on. I have been following it, so I am in the loop. I recorded last nights episode and watched it today. I recorded it to see Gwen Stefani. I have a girl crush on her. She looked so pretty without the red lips. I pretty much agreed with Simon on the critiques. I liked Blake this week. He annoyed me with the beat boxing and dancing. This week, he just sang and it was a good song. I also loved Jordin, for the same reasons my sister does. Big ups to Glendale, AZ!! Also, she wore this:
it costs $2900! sooooo jealous. How can I not support her? And then on tonight's episode, Gwen was awesome. I love that song. I agreed with that Chris dude getting kicked off. Novelties like him don't last long, unless you are Sanjaya. I choose to not participate in that madness.

today

What a day! I am glad that it's over. It was very strange and long. Good, but strange. The morning started with getting up early (went to bed at 1am, got up at 7:30am) and waiting for the Maytag repair man to come to fix the dishwasher. My original plan for today was go to my parents house, spend the day with my mom and go out to dinner tonight. But since the drama with the dishwasher, my plans were altered a bit. Not much, thank goodness. Here's the back story on the dishwasher: Our dishwasher was making a really loud noise. We have one of those extra quiet ones and it was not quiet at all. So, Chris called the repair man. On the 8th, he came out and told us we need a new motor. He said that he could come back the next week to replace it. The motor was still under warranty, so all we had to pay for was labor. So we were ok with that. Then the next week rolls around and they called us the day they were to come out and said that they didn't have the motor yet and would come the next week (yesterday). Annoying, but ok. So the guy comes yesterday and starts taking the dishwasher apart. He then realizes that he can't get to part of the motor unless the dishwasher is pulled out from under the counter. Problem with that is, he won't pull it out. He said that he couldn't risk damaging our tile. Have you seen our tile? We don't really care if it gets damaged. It's like 40 years old and falling apart all on its own. But he still refused to pull it out from the wall. He left and the dishwasher was all torn apart. He said that he would check with dispatch and maybe be able to come back tomorrow (today). That's how he left it. So we didn't even know if he would come back today. Stupid. Last night Chris pulled the dishwasher out and didn't damage the tile or anything. Duh. Then this morning, they called and said he would be here between 8-10am. Great. I can wait at home for him and then leave for my parents when he is done. Not a big change in my plans, just a delay. He comes around 9am and installs the new motor. What I have failed to mention is the fact that this repair man is old as dirt. Seriously. He has to be in his 70's. Chris keeps calling him the original Maytag man. He has that shaky handwriting. I can't believe his is doing this job. I feel really bad every time he would get on his knees to work on the dishwasher. I was afraid he would not be able to get back up. He always did, so good for him. But still. So today, he cut his hand. He was bleeding really bad. There was blood all over the floor. He cleaned up a lot of it himself, but missed a bunch. After he left, I carefully cleaned up all that I could reach. There is some still under the dishwasher that we won't be able to get to until we move the dishwasher back. Lovely!!!! Bottom line is it is quiet now. There is still one problem. When he left, he left it still out from the wall. Apparently they can't put them back either. Also, there are more screws out then Chris had originally taken out to move it from the wall. Now Chris has to figure out where those mystery screws go. So that whole mess was fun. After the dishwasher guy left, I went over to my parents. My mom and I went out to lunch and then went to downtown Glendale. We went to some
antique shops. In one shop, I found this vintage dress (in the photo to the right). It was a custom made dress and jacket from Hong Kong. It was only $22. If I was skinny, I would have bought this in a heart beat. In fact, I would be a total vintage store shopper and have lots of cool clothes. Oh well. Maybe one day. That's a whole other blog post. Anyway, I didn't buy anything, but we had lots of fun. My mom found some cute things for her house. She is more into country stuff and those stores sell a lot of that. After all the shopping, I came home and changed my clothes to go to dinner. I got together with some girlfriends from high school. We went here. A couple months ago, we randomly got together and decided to make it a regular occasion. One of the girls decided that her new years resolution was to reconnect with old friends. It was nice the first time and nice today. I dread them, but end up enjoying myself. We just spend hours talking and tonight there were 3 more people then last time, so there was some catching up to do. Today was a really long day. I am way tired and that is enough rambling.

MISSING!

I found this on John Mayer won't date no FAT GIRL blog. She's hilarious!
It's true though. It seems that since he has been with Jessica, he doesn't have the time for the things he used to do. I guess that happens in any relationship, but it still sucks.

guilty pleasures

I have caught myself watching some craptacular shows lately. So I have decided to reveal my television show guilty pleasures. The top of the list used to be The Hills, but since Heidi refuses to break up with Spencer, I refuse to watch it anymore. So, the current shows are Girls Next Door and I Love New York. I know. I know. I call them guilty pleasures, because I am embarrassed that I watch them. I love them, but won't admit to it until now. A new season of Girls Next Door just started, but I Love New York is almost over. She better pick Tango! So, I admitted to mine... now its your turn. Comment away people.

Happy 1st Day of Spring

It was a comfortable 80 degrees here today. This after the 99 degree weather last week, so 80 is nice! It has been spring here for over a month, but I hope that it is lovely where you are. Enjoy.

This new skywalk opened today. It's a big deal around these parts. But all I can say is there is no way I'm getting out on that thing! That's 4000 feet down. I'm not crazy.

I ate a bowl full of kiwi.

taxes = done

I just finished our taxes. They are pretty simple. It was just a matter of getting everything together. I use taxslayer. I have used this online for like 4 years and never had any problems. I am happy to say that we are finally satisfied with our refunds this year. In past years we got barely anything, but this year we are getting a nice chunk back. So it really wasn't painful and it has a positive outcome. I am just glad that they are done.

this is crazy

My neighbors are having party. These are the same neighbors that just put up a fence. They had a Tigger bounce house and I thought that was fun. But about an hour ago, this truck showed up and it was full of animals. Seriously. I had to get the camera so that people would believe me. They set up a little petting zoo. There is a horse, a mule, a llama, some goats, a pig, a baby cow, some bunnies and some chickens. I keep thinking that this party must be for something more than just St Patrick's Day. It must be someones birthday or something. I am also thinking that maybe they recently came into some money. First a fence (They are not cheap. We are needing to get one in the backyard, so we know this.) and now this insane party. I was outside watching all this when the pig got free and came across the street. It went in my next door neighbors yard and they chased it down. The lady told me she would sell me the pig because it was driving her crazy. It was fun to watch all the chaos. But after they unloaded all the animals, they closed the gate. Boo. I was enjoying watching the party. I wanted to go over and join in. I am jealous. Since I have no life, I live vicariously thru my neighbors.

edited to add: When they were packing the animals up to leave, the mule got free! It was so entertaining. It started running down the street and for a minute, they all just stood there watching it. Then the lady who brought the animals started calling it by its name and whistling. I don't know how she thought that would work. She finally went running after it. I don't know how far it got, but it was over 10 minutes before she came back with it. Hilarious!!

you better be wearing green!

song in my head 03/16/07

It's a really fun song. Gwen rules. Have I mentioned that I have Tick Tock Gwen? Still in the box. Anyway. It's been in my head all day.
Plus, I really like the way Akon sings.

ticket drama

I am trying to convince myself that the seats I got are ok. I hate to admit that I am a total idiot and bought the wrong seats. Oh - back story... John Mayer tickets went on pre-sale today. I had two windows open while trying to get good seats. I pulled some non floor seats, but very close and kept them in the shopping cart. Then in the other browser, I pulled 4th row on the floor! I was so excited. But I ended up purchasing the first tickets I pulled and lost out on the floor seats. I should have closed the other browser, but I didn't and was so excited that I made the mistake. I had told myself that if I pulled any floor seats from row 1-4, I would buy them. Any floor seats further back make it too difficult for me to see. The seats I did end up getting are just to the left of the floor seats in the 3rd row. They are on the far left side of the stage, at an angle. Lemme see if I can get the seating chart...
The star in section 103 are the seats I bought and the star in section CCC would have been the 4th row ones. So it really is not that bad, it really isn't. At least I will be able to see over people's heads. The other problem is that they will not let you buy or even try to see what is available, for 60 mintutes. So I can't even try to get better tickets. I will check again later, but I don't know if I want to have the stress of trying to sell the other tickets, like I had last time. By "last time" I mean, I bought 2 pairs of tickets, because I kept telling myself that if I checked again I could better seats. I ended up selling one pair on ebay. I didn't make any profit on it, because I just wanted to make sure I made my money back. I was paranoid. I don't want to have to deal with that this time, so I am trying be to satisified with just going to the show and not be far away. My seats are good. My seats are good.

edited to add: oh my god! I did it! I looked again. I couldn't help myself. I should have been satisfied. But - HOLY CRAP!!! - I JUST GOT 2ND ROW IN SECTION CCC. Those are even better than the first ones I lost! I bought them. I did. Now I gotta try to sell the others. I doubt I will have any problems, since the others are such good seats. I am such a freak!
BUT I HAVE 2ND ROW SEATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i am freaking out right now!

I am waiting for the Suns vs Mavericks game to start. It is about to and I am so stressed and excited. The Suns have to win. The Mavericks appear to be better this year and have the better record. The Suns haven't beaten the Mavs this season, either. They need this win. Please god. I am praying for a win. I'll you know what happens... believe me. I will either be soooo happy or pissed beyond belief!

edited to add:
6:38pm PST
Quarter One: Suns 32 - Mavs 18. Happy as a clam! I couldn't be happier. Ok, I could be happier if Amare and Boris didn't have 2 fouls each. Otherwise, that quarter was amazing guys!

7:13pm PST
Quarter Two: Suns 60 - Mavs 53. HALF TIME. Shit yeah! The Suns have been winning the whole game. I know that a 7 point lead is nothing against Dallas, but I am hopeful. Oh, by the way... I call the Suns "the bitches." You know, like sons of bitches? Get it? Whatever. I'm weird. I yell at the tv and scream and cheer and clap. Watching a game with me is entertainment in itself.

7:59pm PST
Quarter Three: Suns 76 - Mavs 91. SUCK. SUCK. SUCK. SUCK. SUCK. Crappy quarter. Please guys get it together. This is roller coaster!!!!!!!

8:41pm PST
Quarter Four: Suns 111 - Mavs 111. oh. my. god. Going to overtime. I can't handle it. I am gonna have heart failure. I am so proud of the Suns! Lets play a 5 minute game and kick their asses!!!!

8:57pm PST
1st Overtime: Suns 120 - Mavs 120. WHAT THE HELL!!!!! Going to double overtime. This is insanity! My heart keeps jumping out of my chest. Chris told me to stop yelling, because the neighbors might think he is beating me up. Hehe. Could I have picked a better game to blog? I think not. One more bitches!

9:13pm PST
2nd Overtime: Suns 129 - Mavs 127. They did it! They won. They won. If I keep saying it, maybe I will believe it. I need proof:
Ok. I believe it. Congrats my friends, my bitches!
I love this game!

I saw this on a bumper sticker today and smiled

the hotness on roman holiday

Why have I not commented on this, you ask? Well. To be totally honest, I don't care anymore. Ok, that's not entirely true. I care that he is dating her. I care, because I know she is not right for him. I know? Yes. I know this. But why am I not bothered by it nearly as much anymore? I think it is because they don't really seem to be going away. What choice do I have? It has become one of those situations that you just have to start accepting. He treats her right, that I know. He is a good guy.
I will say this, though. WHY IS SHE STILL BRUNETTE? That is driving me crazy. I know the answer. He prefers brunettes to blondes. But she is a blonde. Her identity was wrapped up in her blonde hair. She can't even keep it real. I hate girls who change like that for boys. That is so sad. I makes me hate her more. But back to what I was saying about not caring... I guess I realized I was wasting my time worrying and stressing about it. He's smiling a lot and he's coming here in 3 months and 1 day (and I will buy the tickets on Friday!). So I can't be all that mad. Oh and this is funny (from one of his latest blogs):
The last line is my favorite!
Love him, still.

aunt carolyn

This is some crappy news and completely unrelated to the cruise. My aunt Carolyn (my mother's oldest sister) just found out that she has colon cancer. She found out the Friday that we left for the trip, but didn't tell my mom until we got back so that my mom would not be upset on the trip. That was really nice of her. We are all staying positive. She is having surgery soon and once that is done, they will have a prognosis. My cousin Gary has come home and is going to stay with his mother for as long as she needs him. See, my aunt is not married and lives alone. She only has the one kid too. So, it is really great that he is able to come and be with her. I can only pray for her and hope for the best.

unpacking

Um, I am still not done. Lovely, eh? I still have my shoes and a very things in my large suitcase and a few random things in the other bag. All my clothes are unpacked and washed already. For some reason, I am not in a big rush to unpack. Although it is one of my goals for today.

answer to a question

Here I am in my formal portrait from the cruise. (notice my hello kitty bling!!) I had to crop out the other person that was in the photo with me, because it is my sister. She does not like to post her own picture, so I respect that and cropped her out.
I got a question from loula about the dress code on the cruise. Since your food is included in the price of the cruise, you can choose where you eat. You are assigned a table in the dining room that you can go to every night if you wanted to. There is a dress code for the dining room and that is mostly, no jeans. I would call it business casual dressing for the dining room. They also have 2 formal nights. We only went to the first one and that's where all the dressed up photos came from. But you don't have to eat in the dining room. There is a grill area with pizza or burgers and there is a 24 hour buffet with lots of stuff. Oh - the vegan part... well in the dining room each night they did have a vegetarian option. I thought that was good for them to consider people who don't eat meat. But to get that, you would have to go to the dining room or pick stuff from the buffet. You can get room service in your room when ever you want, but it is a limited menu. Except if you have a suite, like my parents did. They were able to order anything from the dining room menu, in their room. We did that on the second formal night. We ordered lobster from room service. That was definitely first class. LOL. Other than the dining room, the dress code is way casual. People walking around in bathing suits and various stages of dress or un-dress. So loula, you would be fine, other than the dining room. I live in jeans and tees (and capris in the summer) and Birkenstocks, so I can relate your wardrobe, but I do like to get dressed up once in a while to have a nice dinner.

And I am feeling a little better. It has moved into my throat, but that is a good thing because it is moving quickly.

finally

I have finally posted my photos on flickr. There were lots of photos to sort thru, because my sister made cd's of all our photos (hers, mine and my parents). I had to sort out the photos that I took, because I only wanted to post those. The problem is, my parents and I have the same camera and one day they got mixed up. Also, I spent most of my time video taping and did not take that many pictures. I did, however take photos using my parents camera. So, that's why it took time to sort out the photos that I took. Anyway.
I really don't know what to say about the cruise. It was nice. You can read my sister's feelings on the trip here and here. I have to admit that I agree with her 99%. The best part was Stingray City in Grand Cayman. We didn't swim with the stingrays, because I am too chicken. But we went in an observation boat and got to see them underwater. It was beautiful and I love the ocean. Before I went on this trip, I really hated boats. But after this, I am not so scared and really like boats in the ocean. My mind is really scrambled right now. I have a cold. Lovely, right. I want to make a list of things to blog about, so I can get caught up:
- aunt carolyn
- uncle jerry
- unpacking
- not really visiting another country
- work

I think I will do what my sister did too. If anyone has any questions for me about the cruise, ask in the comments and I will respond. I don't really know what people want to know about, so let me know.

i'm back

I got back home last night around 8:30pm. I am still really out of it and tired. It was only until a few hours ago that I still had sea legs. I felt like I was still on the boat! I will write more tomorrow and post photos then too. But in the mean time, I have updated my project 365 blog with a photo per day on the trip.
