look at my new favorite thing!

I bought myself a Steve Nash jersey. It's not one of those official replicas that cost a million dollars. But it's still awesome! I guess I should have brushed my hair and prepared for the photo a little better, but I wanted to share it because I have been wearing it all night. It just came today and I put it right on. I will wear it when I watch the games and cheer them on to the championship. Go Suns!!

that darn car - the latest

So I was gonna go get new tires tomorrow, but Chris suggested we got after work today. Great idea. Saves me from having to waste my time tomorrow. Long story short - the front two tires were under warranty and what they did was repair the formally flat one and fill the other. No need for new tires. We did buy a new full size spare so that I will not have to worry about the lame spare anymore. It was practically flat when I drove it over to the tire place. So I should be all set. Hopefully no tire issues for a while. Not only am I sooooo glad that I have AAA, but I love Discount Tire. They rule!

when the vending machine is your conscience

I tried to cheat on my pseudo diet this morning. I even borrowed money from Chris to do it. I wanted some cupcakes from the vending machine. They have been calling my name since yesterday. So, I went this morning to get them and the vending would not let me. On the little screen it said: MAKE ANOTHER SELECTION. Ok, fool - gimme that fruit pie then! Nope. Same message... MAKE ANOTHER SELECTION. By this time I was mad. Who is the vending machine to judge me!?! There were other people around so I could not curse it out the way I wanted to. So I cursed and yelled under my breath. I tried to get my money back and it would not give that to me either. What the hell? I ended up getting some chips. It let me have those. So I ate them. I cheated and I ate what I didn't even want! I guess I could have had more will power and just not eaten the chips, but at that point I needed the comfort food.
What the hell, right?

Disclaimer: I am not a total idiot and I do not believe that the vending machine was judging me and not allowing me to get the goodies on purpose. I know that it is something mechanically wrong with it, but still...

suns lost... and other things that suck

I don't really want to talk about the Suns loss. I am sad. But I have to think positively. Sometimes a winning streak can be a burden. It's not like they lost the championship or in the playoffs. It was one game. They have lost since December. December! January is almost over. I am proud of them. And my little note to the streak ending Minnesota Timberwolves: Beat the Suns in the playoffs and then celebrate. Until then, suck it.

So, other things sucked today. I came out to my car after work and lo and behold... I had a flat tire. Flat. Rim on the ground flat. Then, I see a note on my windshield from the security that basically tells me that they discovered the flat over 2 hours before and couldn't notify me because I had never registered my car with them. Damn. I am a slacker on that. I guess I will register it now. Anyway, I called AAA (thank the Lord for the wonderful invention of AAA!!!) and they came out and put the spare on so I could get home. Chris came home and tried to look at the tire and see the source of the leak or hole or whatever. Couldn't find anything. He even took the tire to a gas station to add air and test it to find the source. Couldn't find anything. He was trying to find it so that he could patch it and put the tire back on. But since he couldn't, we are out of luck. Last year, I got 2 new tires and they are on the back. So, Chris is gonna take me to work the rest of the week, because I don't want to drive on the spare and on Thursday, I'm gonna take it and get 2 new tires for the front. Lovely! I hate cars so much. And I want to say that I am sorry to my mother for yelling and her and being a brat when I called her at work. I was really upset at one more thing being wrong with my car and I took it out on her. I should not have done that and I am sorry.

I gotta get to bed... maybe tomorrow will suck a little less.

no day but today

Because I am a loser, I had no idea RENT was coming to town. Well it is and DAMN RIGHT I'M GOING! Bought my tickets tonight. I get to drag Chris for the 3rd time (this will be my 4th time). How awesome is that? February 18th, baby. Floor seats. This will be the best seats I have had to see RENT. I am very happy.

how awesome is that?

Congratulations to my Phoenix Suns on their win tonight. This was a franchise record 16th straight win. That is coming off a 15 game winning streak. They lost one game and started this new streak. They are unbelievable and so fun to watch.
And as the broadcasters say...
I picked up my new glasses today. I randomly decided to take my self portrait with the new glasses in the bathroom at the movie theater. Funny. I look like a freaking tool. But there they are. I love them! Chris likes them too. It will take awhile to get used to them, but that's expected. The movie - I saw The Departed - was really good. I went back and forth on who was hotter. I am more a Matt Damon girl (since I think my husband sorta looks like him), but I have to say Leo was looking pretty nice. The rat at the end... dumb. And Marky Mark at the end... dumb too.

And I figure there might be questions about my ring, so I will explain first. It's from the Pink Head collection by jewelry designer, Tarina Tarantino. Love it! I also have this ring, this ring in green instead of pink and this pin.

song in my head 01/26/07

Well... you didn't wake up this morning,
'cause you didn't go to bed.
You were watching the whites of your eyes turn red.
The calendar on your wall is ticking the days off.

You've been reading some old letters.
You smile and think how much you've changed.
All the money in the world couldn't buy back those days.

You pull back the curtains, and the sun burns into your eyes.
You watch a plane flying across a clear blue sky.
This is the day your life will surely change.
This is the day when things fall into place.

You could've done anything, if you'd wanted.
And all your friends and family think that you're lucky.
But the side of you they'll never see
Is when you're left alone with the memories
That hold your life together like -- GLUE

You pull back the curtains, and the sun burns into your eyes,
You watch a plane flying across a clear blue sky.
This is the day your life will surely change.
This is the day when things fall into place.

This is the day your life will surely change...
(repeat to fade)

i mentioned it last week
you can hear it on my myspace

one more thing

I am pissed beyond belief at Top Chef. Do you watch this show? I do. I love it very much. Or - did love it.

Oh - better warn: TOP CHEF SPOILER ALERT!!!

Even though, I like Ilan - how could they get rid of my friend Sam?? Those bastards. Marcel and Ilan in the finals? What the? Not only was Sam a freakin stud muffin, but he was the best overall. I am annoyed that the judges didn't take the whole season into account. You can't judge just best on the most recent food, especially for the finale. It should be the best overall. Everyone in the final 4 has had a bad round and still moved on. And it really annoyed me that they didn't care about the chef's behavior in the kitchen, just the food. That is the worst thing they could have said. I think a chef - or a person, for that matter - is more than what they produce. A chef should not be a jerk, like Marcel. Augh. Whatever. I swore that I would not watch the show after Sam was kicked off, but I guess I have to watch it since it's only the finale left. If Marcel wins... I can't even finish that sentence.

feb 28

This is the oddest thing. Last night when I got in bed, one thing just popped into my head and would not go away. Feb 28. Feb 28. Feb 28. Feb 28. Feb 28. Feb 28. Just the date, over and over and over. It is creeping me out. I will be on the cruise Feb 28. and don't really think that it's anything major. But why was my brain repeating that? Every horrible option came into my mind too. What will happen Feb 28?

random - breakfast of champions: cereal & soda. yum.

strange

My sister said that blogger made her sign in with the new version today when she logged in. It didn't make me. I haven't changed over either. No specific reason why I haven't. Weird that it made her and not me.

edited to add: It made me do it today (01/27/06). Bastards!

just cuz

i don't have much to say...

I just didn't want those terrible photos to be the last blog I posted. icky. icky. They make my skin crawl. Everyone is speculating the real reason they are together. One terrible one is that she is paying him and vice versa, for publicity. Dear lord. He may have horrible test in women, but I don't think he'd go that far. This whole relationship is just a roller coaster for me. Oh-in case you were confused, I am talking about John Mayer and Jessica Simpson, or as Perez Hilton now calls them Fugs 'n' Jugs. One funny thing that is coming out of all this is stuff on the message boards. They made t-shirts that say Stop This Trainwreck 2007. Funny. (I am totally buying the shirt, btw!) They help put it all in perspective. Sad that this is what my life has come to.

Tomorrow I am picking up my glasses, getting a pedicure and seeing either Babel or The Departed.

Troy made it to town today. Chris had lunch with him since he is staying at a hotel downtown, basically across the street from where Chris works. I should see him either tomorrow night or Saturday.

I started reading the new book club book. Oh, maybe I never mentioned... I joined a book club, but have been a tool and not yet attended and of the meetings. The first was shortly after my miscarriage and last months I totally spaced on and didn't realize it was that night until 9:30pm. So, next month I am really gonna go. The book is Gods in Alabama. So far, it's really good.

Gotta go watch Grey's...

will you please just stop!

dinner last night in Miami...

now today she's on the tour bus!?!?!?!

what did I tell you? don't you listen? have you gone completely insane?

random bits

-- my glass are in! I am going to pick them up on Friday. Hooray!

-- our friend, Troy is coming to town on Thursday (without the wife and baby - boo!). He is coming for work, but staying the weekend to hang out with us. Chris is so happy. I am happy for him. Troy is his bestest (boy) friend.

-- I am gonna start my mission of seeing all the Academy Award nominated films before the awards show. The nominations come out today, so I think I will go see one either Thursday or Friday of this week. Here's the list:

The Queen
The Departed
Babel
Little Miss Sunshine
Letters From Iwo Jima

edited to add: My mom just told me that the award show is gonna be on February 25th - while are on the cruise! They will be airing the show on the boat, but that is our "formal" night and we will be having a fancy dinner and cocktail hour before. This blows. I know that the Academy Awards are not that important in the grand scheme of life and that being on this cruise might be a once in a lifetime opportunity for me, but I am still pissed.

-- speaking of movies, Chris agreed to go see Smokin' Aces with me! This is worth mentioning, because Chris does not like to go to the movies. Clerks 2 was the last movie we saw in the theater together. (I will go by myself to see the Academy nominated films.) So, there was a commercial for it last night and I asked him if he wanted to go see it with me because it has a lot of guns and shooting. He likes violence on film. He said that it looks good and will go with me. I was so excited. Do you realize what nice boys are in this film? Jeremy Piven, Ryan Reynolds. yum. I could do without Jason Bateman, though.

damn you Cherry Garcia

I was supposed to start my diet today. See, it's 1 month till our cruise and I wanted to start the diet before we go. I have some shorts that I want to take and wear and they are a little snug. So, I was good all day at work and then I get home and forgot that I had some Cherry Garcia left in the freezer. I just ate it. I had to. If I didn't today, I would have another day. Now its gone and I will be better tomorrow. See, I splurged over the weekend and just didn't finish the ice cream. Another day, another diet.

the second coming

the new breed of basketball...

If you know me, you know I love the Phoenix Suns. This new Nike campaign features 3 of my boys, Shawn Marion, Steve Nash and Amare Stoudemire. Love this. Love it! Saw the commercial on TV yesterday and got all excited. I am easily pleased.
Here's the commercial:

or to see a better version, check out the website.
Oh and by the way... the Suns are 32-8! Second best record in the NBA, after Dallas (only because Dallas has played 2 more games than the Suns.) !

TONITE!!

All new Prison Break.
All new HEROES.

I am a happy camper!! It's about time shows came back...

it just snowed!

I am not even kidding. Snow. I heard thunder and saw some storm clouds roll in. So I grabbed my camara to get some cool sky shots and it was already wet outside. And it was really cold. I looked at the ground a little closer and saw that it was white stuff when it hit the ground. It melted right away on the concrete, but in the yard it would stay in little flakes for a few minutes. It was clearly not hail. I have seen both and know the difference. I took some pictures. They are blurry, but here they are:

And I did get a couple cool sky shots too:

Awesome. Awesome. Awesome.

edited to add: the news is reporting it too!

rainbows, old friends, and what i am doing today

I tried to take a picture of the rainbow and the stadium while I was driving. I know this is not the best idea in the world. But it looked neat. This is not worthy of my project 365 blog, so I decided to post it here.

Last night, I went out with some old friends from high school. One of the girls decided it was time that we all get together and organized the dinner. I am really glad I went. It was strange, but not really. I have know these girls forever. I am glad that we were able to talk just like old times.

If you are looking for me today, I will be planted on my butt watching the Barrett-Jackson auto auction, on tv. I'm not really into cars, but I like watching people spend money. It's entertaining.

what should this post really be about?

I struggle with what I should actually write about. I am still mad at the hotness, but the severity of the anger comes and goes. I am insane, I know.

So, last week Louis C.K. had a new special on HBO. He is so flippin funny. We used to watch Lucky Louie, even though it wasn't very good. The new special was really funny. I like that he talks about marriage and kids. The funniest thing he said was something like he and his wife were sitting on couch just being married. I totally get that. I recommend you try to check the show in reruns. Funny stuff.

But you started the post about the hotness? I am confused.
Yes, I get that.

Well, in case you didn't know John has been trying his hand at stand up comedy. A couple weeks ago, he blogged about it and posted some pictures. The fact that he is trying new things is one of the reasons why I love him. This is another:

Dear John,
Good luck on the next leg of your tour. Why aren't you coming to Phoenix on your solo tour? What the heck?
Anyway, please be careful with the Xanax. I understand anxiety, believe me. Just think twice before turning to the pills. I get the drinking. I get that you are a grown up and can take care of yourself. I am just concerned that these things are leading you to make decisions that you might regret. Forget your fans. We will love you, no matter what. We might be mad at you, but will still love you. Look out for yourself. I just don't want you to have to look back and say, "What was I thinking?" The road is a good place for you. Keeps you out of trouble. That sounds strange to say, but I think its the best thing for you.
Take care,
Laura

I am insane, I know.

got to go see this

After Dark: 100 Years of the Evening Dress at the Phoenix Art Museum.
This exhibit features over 25 fabulous gowns from the museum's collections, highlighting how evening wear has changed over the past 100 years.

Sounds awesome. I hope I can photograph this exhibit. Maybe I'll go next week.

that's closest I could get with the hair color

my own M & M
You can get your own too.

Also love the new M & M ad (and on the website) with This Is The Day by The The. Totally from Empire Records!!

the almost fight in front of my house

Today, I was sitting watching A Baby Story and I see this truck with about 16 or so kids in the bed, drive by and stop across the street. Then another car and another with more kids. (Kids meaning high school age.) Then more kids started walking down the street. I knew something was up. It was totally one of those things where the kids were like, "Meet me there after school." Dumb. They were gathering around at the curve of the road that is basically one house down from me. There were over 3 dozen kids there within about 5 minutes. I closed the front blinds but kept watching. I really didn't care what was happening, but I was concerned about my car. I park it in front of the house, basically on the street. I knew if something went down, something might happen to my poor little car. I called Chris to find out what he thought I should do. I decided that if I saw someone throw a punch, I would call the police. But I didn't get the chance to. Within about another 5 minutes, they were leaving - and leaving fast. After a minute or two, I went outside to get the mail and saw two police cars at the other end of the street. I guess someone else called them before I did. I'm just glad nothing happened. Stupid kids.

i created my own Project 365 blog

Check it out and let me know what you think.

Amazing Race: All Stars

CBS announced the 11 teams this morning. There is only one winning team: Joyce and Uchenna, from Season 7. And this is strange... the team of Eric & Danielle... They were on different teams in Season 9, but they met and have been dating ever since. Weird. The new season premires Feb. 18. Here is the list of the teams:
Dustin Seltzer and Kandice Pelletier - Season 10, 4th place
Joe Baldassare and Bill Bartek - Season 1, 3rd place
Kevin O’Connor and Drew Feinberg - Season 1, 4th Place

golden globes - congrats!

Two of my favorite shows!

Ugly Betty
Best Television Series - Musical Or Comedy

Grey's Anatomy
Best Television Series - Drama

golden globes - worst dressed

I was asked for my worst dressed, so here you go.

Angelina, not Brad.
This dress does nothing for her.
It's so flippin boring.
