seen & heard
In the grocery store today...
A woman picks up the latest issue of People magazine (with Clay Aiken on the cover), holds it up to the other woman she was with and says, "Why is he telling us something we already know?"
I laughed out loud.

haircut
After Chris pulled out a really long gray hair from my head, I've been thinking about what to do with my hair. My hair is getting grayer by the minute. I used to pull them, because they were short and few and far between. Not so much anymore. So, I am thinking of cutting my hair and having it colored. Cut short, like shoulder length. A layered bob. I think that is what I'm gonna do with the length, but I am not sure if I am gonna get it colored. I used to color my hair, but I haven't done it in years. If I color it, it would only be highlights. It's too dark and thick to change the whole color. Plus, I don't think I'd look good with anything else. AHHHHH! I don't know what to do.

agent 18
I have been looking for a new protective case for my ipod. I looked all over the internet and finally found one that I am in love with. It is from a company called Agent 18. It is very high quality and fits perfectly. This is a link to the one I purchased and here is a photo of my new cover:
Love it! It is too cute.

foodies
Because I know that some people like to know the restaurants that I went to while in DC, here is the run down of them:
Aladdin's Eatery - tried the Baba. Very tasty.
Restaurant 3 - didn't eat here, just had drinks
Manhattan Bagel
Bistrot Du Coin - best Crème Brulee I've ever had!
Potbelly Sandwich Works
The Russia House - had some fantastic vodka's: Balinoff, Russian Standard & Van Gogh Double Espresso
Very tasty food. DC has lots of great, diverse restaurants.

I was late with posting this, but I still gotta keep up. I did watch this game and it was the first loss of the season for the Cardinals. It was sad for me.
But the cool thing is, I was actually in the DC area for this game. Very cool.
2-1 is not a bad start. trying to stay positive.

mini vacation
I am in Arlington, VA. I traveled here today to see Chris. He is gonna be here until the beginning of October (the next 2 weeks), so we decided that I should come out for a visit. Right now I am relaxing in the hotel, because Chris is still at work. But tomorrow we are gonna be tourists! My mom recommended we take a tour, so we are going to do that. We are taking this tour and we will be seeing all the major sites. Very cool. I am sure we will be the youngest people on the tour, but they actually are the best way to see a lot in a short period of time. I am looking forward to it. I will be here until Monday. Nice to be where its cooler. Nice to see Chris.
The Moose by Woody Allen
Yesterday on NPR, they interviewed a man about moose hunting. They were discussing the subject, because of Sarah Palin and her hunting. Anyway, after the interview, they played a clip of a Woody Allen comedy sketch. I was home in the driveway before it was over, but I was laughing so hard that I stayed in the car and listened to it. So, here it is:
this is very cool
I had to buy a new pair of capris, because I have outgrown all my others. No, outgrown is not the word. They are all too big. I have a hard time keeping them from falling off and I am anti-belt. So, I went shopping to buy a new pair for my trip. Not only did I find a pair for $9.99, but they were 2 sizes smaller than the jeans I bought last winter. This is amazing to me. I feel like I have gained back a few pounds that I had previously lost, but then I am able to buy clothes in a smaller size. It just makes me happy.
Then today, I was actually able to tighten the seatbelt on the plane. These simple things might seem trivial to most people. But there was a time when I actually had to get a seat belt extender on an airplane. Then it went to being just able to buckle the belt. Then today, I could buckle it and pull it tight. Major for me.
This progress is making me feel good.

just wanted to share...
So I wanted to share this video, because I kinda have a thing for the drummer. Too bad the band broke up. But the drummer has moved on. Too bad he doesn't perform shirtless anymore...

So, I just randomly stumbled upon this show on the Fine Living channel. It's called
Whatever, Martha and one of the hosts is Martha Stewart's daughter, Alexis. Her and another chic basically sit around and watch old clips of The Martha Stewart show and mock it. Awesome. It's really funny. You should check it out!

video of the voicemail
Ignore the rest of the video, just play it at the 2:13 mark! AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!
Ok, you can play the whole video to see how freaking cute that boy is, but my voicemail is the best part! The girl who hugs him and gets her photo taken with him right after him talking to me, is Lisa - my new hero! She is the sweetest thing.

luckiest girl
Chris is out of town again. He has been gone since Sunday. Good news is... he is coming home tomorrow. Bad news is... he is leaving again Monday.
But, I guess he misses me. Look at what I got delivered at work today:
This was the nicest thing. I was never expecting them, but I love them. I miss him so much too.

O. M. G.
TODAY IS UP THERE AS ONE OF THE BEST DAYS EVER! The day I actually get to meet Jason Castro will replace this day, but until then, I have this voicemail:
One of my friends from the website went to meet the buses today before the concert tonite in Ft. Wayne, IN. I had no idea she was even going to the show. Apparently she didn't either until yesterday. I guess she just decided to up and go. I was sitting at work, on the phone to a customer who was just rambling on and on, and my phone was ringing like crazy. It rang once - voicemail, twice - voicemail, 3 times - voicemail. I was finally off the phone and checked all the voicemails. The first was from Lisa saying that she was at the show. The second was that she was still trying to reach me and the 3rd is what I just posted. She wanted me to be able to talk to Jason on the phone, but since I never answered she had him leave me a message. Now, as badly I wanted to talk to him, I now have this forever. To play over and over and over. So, after being able to breath again, I called her back. She didn't answer so I left her a message. She called back a few minutes later. She wanted to make sure I got the message, because she couldn't really hear what he had said to me. She said that Jason was still right there near her. I told her to shove the phone in his face. She said he was talking to other people and she didn't want to interrupt him. But I guess she got his attention again and I could kinda hear her say that she was on the phone to the girl who runs the website. Then I heard Jason yell, "Hey GG website girl!" Crap! A live shout out. I about pissed my pants. I never actually got to have a two way conversation, but the whole thing was amazing. Who ever knew that hearing your name said by another human being could bring so much joy? A few minutes later, Lisa called me back to tell me that the person standing next to hear had taken a video of Jason on the phone leaving me my message. So... that means audio and video! TMTH!! I am bouncing off the walls. But you know what? Truthfully... what matters more to me than the calls... the fact that Lisa went behind my back and got my phone number and told me that her calling me was supposed to be a surprise for me. That meant the world to me. Just that she cared enough to make the effort to do this for me. Awesome. More than Jason Castro, this whole experience over the last 5 months have brought the most amazing people into my life and I am forever grateful.

are you ready for some football - week 1
Today is start of the new NFL season. It actually started on Thursday, but oh well. Today is the first Cardinals game and I am excited. I get excited at the start of each season, then usually bummed about 3 weeks in. Hopefully that will not be the case this time!
vs
1:18pm - edited to add: Kurt Warner is starting! I can't believe it. That will shut Matt Leinert up.

gustav update
So, my friend Angie ended up going back to her home in Morgan City, LA on Tuesday morning. It had to have been really hard for her to be away from her husband during the hurricane. When she went home, she did have running water, but no power. They have a camper with a generator and so they were staying in that. Her power came on around 8:30pm CST yesterday. She was so excited. She was able to sleep in her own bed for the first time since Saturday. Her porch collapsed and her fence is down completely, but her roof is not leaking. That is a major relief. She did say that the town is totally trashed. It's gonna be some time until life gets back to normal for her. She is so positive, though. I wish I could be like that. I was freaking out for her the whole time. She was going thru the hurricane and she was comforting me. Gotta love that girl.

Powerless (Say What You Want) by Nelly Furtado
Thanks to my sister who loaded up my ipod with some of her tunes.
I had totally forgotten about this song. She gave me the acoustic version, but I could not find a recording of it and coverting the file to mp3 to upload... right. So, you get this fun version.

gustav
Normally, I am only concerned about hurricanes because I know that work will be very busy. But for the first time, I have a personal reason to care about it. My dear friend Angie lives in Morgan City, LA. The eye of the hurricane is over her town as we speak. She was able to evacuate with her daughters, yesterday and get to her uncle's house further north. But she is still not completely out of harms way. Her husband had to stay behind because he is a police deputy. I cannot imagine how she must feel being away from her husband right now. And he is there in it. She is staying so calm. I am freaking out more than she is. I guess when you live there you are used to things like this. Plus, I guess freaking out isn't gonna change the situation. If you read this, just say a pray for her and her family. Angie, I love you.
edited to add: I heard from Angie around 4:15pm. She had finally made contact with her husband in Morgan City. He was safe and sound. He was able to see their house. They had some damage to their porch, fence, shutters and some shingles from the roof. But otherwise, things were fine. No flooding that we know of. So, it seems her home made it thru. She is so relieved. Not sure when she can get home, though. And as far as I know, all she got where evacuated to, was rain. Nothing too bad. When she texted me, I wrote back, "So I can breathe now?" She wrote back, "Well, I am now. So go ahead." What a relief!

prison break!!!
Well, for the first summer in 3 years I did not take a week to watch the previous season of Prison Break. That is because I did not buy season 3 on DVD. Not yet, at least. I guess its gonna be a birthday/christmas list item. Regardless of that... the new season starts in 18 hours!! I AM SOOOOO EXCITED. Prison Break is my favorite TV show and I am really looking forward to the new direction the show should take this season. I cannot wait.
