hair cut

The haircut has happened. I have no hair.

Ok. That isn't true. But it is soooo short. I haven't had it this short since I don't know when? High School maybe?

I love the cut, but the way it was styled kinda makes me look like a mom. A total mom hair style. When I wash it and style it myself, I will like it better.

augh

I have had a horrible night. Had a argument with a friend. Not fun. Lots of crying involved on my part. But I know that it will blow over.

I am trying to think of things I am grateful for today, even though today has been a bad day.

1. Gold Canyon Caramel Apple candle. It is seasonal and only comes out this time of year. I am obsessed with them and have been buying them for the last 5 years. LOVE LOVE LOVE

2. Heard quickly that I did not get the job. At least they did not drag it out.

3. Smiles and understanding from Chris.

other random things

  • I had a job interview today. It went well. I guess I am not too enthusiastic about it because the hours are not ideal (nights & weekends). But it would be a job. So, I am just gonna wait and see what they offer me as far as a shift and pay. They say I should hear within the week.

  • It is 2 weeks until my birthday. It is one day before the election, so it will be overlooked in the media. hehehe. In my dreams.

  • My mom came home from visiting my sister today. They had a good time, but I am jealous I was not there with them.

  • When the hell is it gonna cool off? It was in the 90's today! It cooled down into the low 80's and high 70's for a few days, but back up it went. wth? Its almost Halloween!!!

  • David Cook is gonna be on Saturday Night Live on November 1st. I am so excited for this! While he was not my favorite idol (thats an understatement!), I still really like him and will probably buy his album. That comes out November 21st, btw.

  • I am chopping my hair off on Thursday. Ok, so not ALL my hair, but a lot. I hope it turns out like this:
  • camping

So, yeah... we went camping over the weekend. Believe it or not, it was my idea. I felt like getting away would do us both some good. Chris had been gone in Arlington for so long and I have been stuck in this house. Well, turns out it was a good idea. We packed up and left Friday afternoon. By the time we got there (we had to stop at Walmart along the way because we forgot flashlights! duh!) it was dark. Setting up camp in the dark is kind of a pain, but I was with my Eagle Scout and had no doubt it would be ok. The best thing about camping is the food that Chris makes. He puts yummy things on the fire and the grill. Makes cake in a cast iron dutch oven. Soooo good. Also roasting marshmallows. Such fun. The weather was really nice. I loved being away from the heat. We brought every blanket we owned and I ended up sleeping in my clothes with 4 blankets. I was able to get lots of reading and writing done. And of course I took pictures. If you wanna see them, here they are. We were way up on top of Mingus Mountain at over 7000 feet above sea level. It was very cool being at the top. Here is the mountain were were on top of, once we were down off of it:It was a really peaceful weekend, dirt and all.

    to the hotness

made it in just under the wire...

    HAPPY 31st BIRTHDAY

    JOHN CLAYTON MAYER

    Tuesday, October 14, 2008

    meh

Jennifer Aniston & John Mayer Reconnect for Dinner
This boy has become such a player. I know that he is just playing the field. They like each other and they want to hang out again. I really do not think its a big deal.
I know he has a bad rap and it was confirmed by the reference to him on this weeks Gossip Girl. One of the characters said, "You've gotten more Maxim cover girls than John Mayer." That's not the exact quote, but close enough.
He will always be the hotness to me.

    job... or lack there of

I have been putting of blogging about this. I am not really sure why. I got fired from my job. Not laid off. Fired. It's complicated. Not really feeling like sharing the details. But it was just over two weeks ago. My former boss called me while I was home sick and told me. She told me that they would pack up my desk and mail it to me. It was done. I guess I could have tried to fight it. But honestly, I didn't really want to. I was not happy at my job. Well, I loved the people I worked with, but I hated what I did. I was wanting to leave anyway. It would have been better if it was on my terms and not theirs. It was also really difficult to deal with, because not only was I sick, but Chris was in Arlington at the time. So I was home alone. It was tough, but in a way, it was a blessing. That applies to losing the job and being alone. I have hope that I will find another job. In fact, I got a call today about an interview. I have one scheduled on Monday!! I have applied to so many and feel good about the process. But I also was forced to deal with it on my own. I act tough (sometimes!! I swear I do!!), but I don't always feel tough. Being home alone gave me time to think and react without other peoples opinions or feelings. It would have been nice to have the support of my husband at that time, but I handled it. I cried. I dealt. I processed. I felt good to be with my feelings. It was positive, for once. I needed this to happen. Maybe I can start to move forward in my life now.

I made a playlist to show my friends some of my favorite songs (other than Jason Castro), so why not post it here too?? I tried to keep it to only 2 songs per artist. Otherwise it would not be very diverse.

    W

I am really looking forward to seeing W by Oliver Stone. It comes out in two weeks.

From an interview tonight with Oliver Stone on Nightline:

Oliver Stone: "I don't mis-underestimate George Bush at all. I think he's a very dangerous man."
Terry Moran: "Dangerous?" (laughing and smiling)
Oliver Stone: "Are you joking? We have two wars going. We have an economy in tatters and he's not dangerous? He's gonna upset and ruin most of our lives. I mean, they play fear against hope. We're being played like marionettes."

    seen & heard

    In the grocery store today...

A woman picks up the latest issue of People magazine (with Clay Aiken on the cover), holds it up to the other woman she was with and says, "Why is he telling us something we already know?"

    I laughed out loud.

    haircut

After Chris pulled out a really long gray hair from my head, I've been thinking about what to do with my hair. My hair is getting grayer by the minute. I used to pull them, because they were short and few and far between. Not so much anymore. So, I am thinking of cutting my hair and having it colored. Cut short, like shoulder length. A layered bob. I think that is what I'm gonna do with the length, but I am not sure if I am gonna get it colored. I used to color my hair, but I haven't done it in years. If I color it, it would only be highlights. It's too dark and thick to change the whole color. Plus, I don't think I'd look good with anything else. AHHHHH! I don't know what to do.

This is my cousin's baby. She is so darn cute.

    agent 18

I have been looking for a new protective case for my ipod. I looked all over the internet and finally found one that I am in love with. It is from a company called Agent 18. It is very high quality and fits perfectly. This is a link to the one I purchased and here is a photo of my new cover:

Love it! It is too cute.

    foodies

Because I know that some people like to know the restaurants that I went to while in DC, here is the run down of them:

  • Aladdin's Eatery - tried the Baba. Very tasty.
  • Restaurant 3 - didn't eat here, just had drinks
  • Manhattan Bagel
  • Bistrot Du Coin - best Crème Brulee I've ever had!
  • Potbelly Sandwich Works
  • The Russia House - had some fantastic vodka's: Balinoff, Russian Standard & Van Gogh Double Espresso

Very tasty food. DC has lots of great, diverse restaurants.

I was late with posting this, but I still gotta keep up. I did watch this game and it was the first loss of the season for the Cardinals. It was sad for me.
But the cool thing is, I was actually in the DC area for this game. Very cool.
2-1 is not a bad start. trying to stay positive.

    mini vacation

I am in Arlington, VA. I traveled here today to see Chris. He is gonna be here until the beginning of October (the next 2 weeks), so we decided that I should come out for a visit. Right now I am relaxing in the hotel, because Chris is still at work. But tomorrow we are gonna be tourists! My mom recommended we take a tour, so we are going to do that. We are taking this tour and we will be seeing all the major sites. Very cool. I am sure we will be the youngest people on the tour, but they actually are the best way to see a lot in a short period of time. I am looking forward to it. I will be here until Monday. Nice to be where its cooler. Nice to see Chris.

    The Moose by Woody Allen

Yesterday on NPR, they interviewed a man about moose hunting. They were discussing the subject, because of Sarah Palin and her hunting. Anyway, after the interview, they played a clip of a Woody Allen comedy sketch. I was home in the driveway before it was over, but I was laughing so hard that I stayed in the car and listened to it. So, here it is:

    this is very cool

I had to buy a new pair of capris, because I have outgrown all my others. No, outgrown is not the word. They are all too big. I have a hard time keeping them from falling off and I am anti-belt. So, I went shopping to buy a new pair for my trip. Not only did I find a pair for $9.99, but they were 2 sizes smaller than the jeans I bought last winter. This is amazing to me. I feel like I have gained back a few pounds that I had previously lost, but then I am able to buy clothes in a smaller size. It just makes me happy.
Then today, I was actually able to tighten the seatbelt on the plane. These simple things might seem trivial to most people. But there was a time when I actually had to get a seat belt extender on an airplane. Then it went to being just able to buckle the belt. Then today, I could buckle it and pull it tight. Major for me.
This progress is making me feel good.

    just wanted to share...

So I wanted to share this video, because I kinda have a thing for the drummer. Too bad the band broke up. But the drummer has moved on. Too bad he doesn't perform shirtless anymore...
